Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL)

Sustainable lubricants for safe and efficient food & industrial production

What are EALs?

Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) are biodegradable lubricants and greases made from renewable resources. They break down into harmless by-products in nature, helping to reduce pollution and environmental impact.

In the past, biodegradable lubricants were often seen as less efficient than conventional products. Today’s generation combines high technical performance and long service life with sustainability. Many products are certified according to ISO 15380:2016 and NSF H1, making them suitable for use in food production where food safety is critical.

Key benefits of EALs

  • Environmentally acceptable: reduce pollution and the risk of harm to nature and wildlife.
  • Compliance: meet international standards such as ISO 15380:2016, EU Ecolabel, VGP and NSF H1.
  • High performance: modern technology ensures reliability, long service life and equipment protection.
  • Safe disposal: biodegradable and can often be safely released into soil and water.
  • Food safety: selected products approved for incidental food contact.
